Experience the Magic of Kisii
Whether you are chasing sunsets, celebrating a milestone, hosting a conference, or simply seeking peace on the hillside — Humphreys Hill House is ready to welcome you home.
An intimate sanctuary where every path leads to a story. Where the air hums with the low rhythm of evening drums and the smell of rain on red earth. Not just a hotel, a poem written in architecture.
Nestled 2.5 km from Kisii Town, The Humphreys Hill House rises from an indigenous forest, overlooking Lake Victoria and the emerald valleys of South Nyanza. Our architecture was born during the COVID era — intentionally fragmented into intimate social pods that preserve the natural hillside and create private moments of wonder.
We are not just a hotel. We are a living museum of Gusii culture, a garden-to-table restaurant, a community anchor — and a place where every sunset is a standing ovation from the hills of Gusii.
"Built during the COVID period, our architecture is intentionally fragmented into intimate corners, preserving privacy and conversation in equal measure."
From our heated infinity pool to the newly opened Mogiti Cultural Pavilion, every corner of Humphreys is designed to delight and restore.
An intimate mirror of sky — for no more than 6 guests at a time, overlooking the valley below.
Garden-to-table cuisine on our open-air terrace, with views of the indigenous forest and golden sunsets.
A living museum of Omogusii heritage — thatched homesteads, cooking hearths, storytelling and crafts.
Five private rooftop sanctuaries for conferences, private events, and sunset cocktail hours.
A hidden den beneath the hillside — pool table, foosball, darts, PlayStation 4 and traditional Bao.
A fully equipped gym with panoramic forest views. Open 5:30 AM to 9:00 PM, included for all guests.
Our team is always on hand — for reservations, cultural tours, transport, or just a recommendation.
2.5 km from Kisii Town, overlooking Lake Victoria. A gateway to South Nyanza's cultural circuit.
Egalaro ki Omogusii
Kisii's most anticipated cultural landmark has arrived. The Mogiti Cultural Pavilion seats over 300 guests beneath its iconic terracotta lattice facade — a sweeping arc-shaped venue for ceremonies, exhibitions, conferences, and celebrations. It sits at the heart of our Omogusii Cultural Village, surrounded by traditional thatched homesteads, open-air lounges, and a soapstone sculpture garden of over 40 original works.
Each room is a private sanctuary — named, storied, and designed to reflect the spirit of the Gusii hills. From intimate tea room singles to the Presidential Suite.
Standard
An intimate sanctuary with window beds opening to forest views. Warm timbers and handwoven Gusii textiles echo the soul of the hillside.
Deluxe
Larger spaces with refined finishes, premium linens, and sweeping hillside views. For the traveller who savours every comfort.
Presidential
A two-bedroom private residence with a living room, kitchenette, and private office. The pinnacle of hillside luxury.
At Humphreys Hill House, we have turned sunset watching into an art form. From Skybox 5 to our alfresco terrace, the view changes every minute — from amber to rose to the deep violet of a Kisii night.
Every first Saturday of the month, we host Humphreys Convo — an open gathering of art, culture, philosophy, and honest conversation at Skybox 5. No ticket required. All are welcome.

Over 40 original Gusii soapstone sculptures are installed throughout our grounds, lobby, and sculpture garden — each one a story of the Omogusii people, carved by master craftsmen whose art has been passed down for generations.
Our Soapstone Gift Shop brings together the finest carvings, textiles, and curated cultural artefacts. Take a piece of Gusii heritage home with you.

"The location was absolutely breathtaking esp at night. The views are to die for."
"The heavy breakfast, front office reception — so good. A true hidden gem of Kenya."
The Humphreys Hill House was built with the land, not against it. Every kilowatt of power comes from the sun. Every litre of water is harvested from the sky. Every meal celebrates the soil of Kisii. We believe that luxury and responsibility are not opposites — they are partners.
